My name is Shaun Andrews. I’m a web designer and web developer. If you don’t know what that means, then just know: I make websites.
I’m married to a wonderful woman, and we have three kids—twin boys, Jackson and Tyler, born in 2009 and Mason, born in 2012.
I’ve lived and worked online for most of my adult life. I founded Tick with a few friends. Around that same time I started XHTMLGenius.com. I began doing freelance web work in 2004 while fresh out of college, as a way to get some extra cash. I found a job at Alienware, which didn’t last long. After a few years at a South Florida branding agency, I decided to jump into freelancing full time. Upstate Interactive was born in early 2006. I was fortunate enough to work from some amazing clients on some really great work.
In 2011 I joined Automattic, well known as the creator’s of WordPress.com, to work on the brand new backup and security service VaultPress. In Aug 2013, I switched over to work on WordPress.org Core full-time, as part of the first Automattic dotOrg rotations. As part of my rotation, I worked on the wp-admin redesign (named MP6) and made it slightly easier to manage widgets. In Jan 2014 I wrapped up my rotation and have joined the Editorial team at Automattic.
